Pennyworth

I've never wondered what happened to Batman's butler before he was Batman's butler, but now I wish I had thought of it sooner.

Turns out he was pretty entertaining, surprisingly tough, quite smooth and also a bit funny.

Who would have thought?

He is played by Jack Bannon, recognisable from featuring in Fury with Brad Pitt.

Alfred Pennyworth as a young man is full of surprises, least of all an excellent Michael Caine accent, and lives in a quasi futuristic/Victorian London.

Very cleverly done place setting in and around the city, creating a familiar but eerie landscape fo the show.

He has his own crew, family, enemies and costars of the likes of Jason Flemyng (who still cannot act) and Paloma Faith (who is very good).

I won't ruin the story line, but it's deep an well thought out, and brings in all levels of British society, as well as Thomas Wayne (maybe a future there).

The first season was good enough that it was quickly renewed for a second, already in production.
